LPN Advanced Placement Option

If you have an active Wyoming LPN license, you may be eligible to enter the second year of the ADN program, provided you meet the following requirements. Interested individuals should contact the nursing program director for more information.
LPN to RN Completion

The following courses must be completed with a C or better prior to entering at the sophomore level of the program:
- Human Anatomy (4 credits)
- Human Physiology (4 credits)
- General Microbiology (4 credits)
- General Psychology (4 credits)
- Math 1000 or higher level college course (3 credits)
- Pharmacology (4 credits within the past five years)

All other general education requirements for the degree must be completed with a C or better prior to graduation from the program:
- English Composition I (3 credits)
- English Composition II (Business Communications or Technical Writing may be substituted) (3 credits)
- American & Wyoming Government (3 credits)

Applicants must achieve a passing score on the LPN GAP (General Achievement Profile) test in the following three areas: Mental Health, Adult Medical, and Adult Surgical. The passing scores must be achieved within one year of June 1 of the year you plan to enter at the sophomore level of the program. Applicants will be allowed to take the GAP up to two times to achieve a passing score in all the required areas, and must wait a minimum of two months between retest. Contact the Nursing Office at the college to make arrangements to take the GAP.

The cost of the LPN GAP is $30 and is payable at the time of testing. You must also provide a photo ID and a copy of your current LPN license

Upon successful completion of the GAP, you will be eligible to enroll in the LPN Transition course in the summer prior to entering the sophomore year of the program, provided you have met all the requirements in #1 above.

Students wishing an evaluation of collegiate work for transfer of credit must make arrangements for official transcripts from institutions previously attended to be sent to the Records Office at CWC prior to May 1 of the year you plan to enter the program.

Advanced placement in the program is dependent upon space available and adequate clinical resources.
