Nursing Application Deadline: March 1

CWC Application

Nursing Admission Application

Application Steps and Application Steps for High School Students

Applicants must meet the general admission requirements of Central Wyoming College. Application to the college and application to the Nursing Program are separate objective processes and both must be completed. Admission to the college does not guarantee admission to the Nursing Program.

Admission to the Nursing Program is competitive. Each year 40 students are selected to enter the program. Applicants must designate whether they are applying for admission to the program on the main campus in Riverton, or at a distant site in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The number of admissions is limited to faculty to student clinical ratios and available clinical practice sites.

The nursing application deadline is March 1 for admission in the fall semester. All associated admission materials (nursing application, college application, transcripts) must be postmarked or received at the college prior to the application deadline. Late applications or transcripts will NOT be reviewed. Once the application is submitted, it is the applicant’s responsibility to contact the Nursing Office at the college to confirm receipt.

Transcript Evaluation

Students wishing an evaluation of previous collegiate work for transfer of credit and consideration for admission points must make arrangements for official transcripts from institutions attended to be sent to the Records Office at CWC prior to the March 1 application deadline. Students must also submit a Request for Transcript Evaluation form to the Records Office.

Upon receipt, the nursing director and registrar will determine credits that meet degree requirements at CWC and the student will be notified in writing. Applicants are advised to contact the Records Office at 307-855-2176 to check the status of their transcript evaluation.

Outcome Notification

All applicants are notified of Nursing Admission Committee decisions in writing approximately six weeks after the application deadline. Applicants will either receive a letter of acceptance, an offer for placement on the alternate list, or a letter of non acceptance. Students placed on the alternate list will be notified should an opening occur.

An applicant who is notified of acceptance must return the Acceptance Reply form in order to reserve a position in the class. If an accepted applicant decides to withdraw their application, notification of the withdrawal must be received by the Nursing Office. Failure to notify the Nursing Office of intent to withdraw application could affect future consideration for admission.

Students who are not accepted to the program, but are interested in re-applying, must complete the nursing admission application prior to the March 1 deadline each year, and submit official college transcripts reflecting coursework completed since the last application.
