Associate of Applied Science    
 
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Medical Office Assistant is designed to prepare graduates to play a key role in medical offices and allied health care facilities. This highly specialized field requires skills in administrative office procedures, health insurance processing, billing and transcription of medical reports. The program prepares students to function as an entry-level medical front-office assistant, medical receptionist, medical office secretary, medical billing and coding clerk or medical records clerk in a variety of healthcare settings. The general education requirements are designed to encourage students to develop critical and creative thinking, computation and communication skills, lifelong learning skills and technical skills used in a medical office setting.

Medical Office Support Certificate    
 
The certificate in Medical Office Support is designed to prepare individuals who already have a strong background in office technology to acquire specialized skills in medical transcription and/or medical billing and coding. Students select one option and learn specialized skills that will be used in a hospital or medical clinic.    
 
The general education requirements are designed to encourage students to develop computation and communication skills.
