Outdoor Education

If you love the outdoors and are seeking a career, or just the skills to live comfortably in the wilderness, Central Wyoming College offers unique programs which combine a rigorous academic foundation with hands-on skill development in remote wilderness settings. The Outdoor Education and Leadership degree program is designed for students interested in careers in outdoor education, environmental education, adventure programming or conservation. Here's what some of our graduates say about the program.

Residential Life at Sinks Canyon Center

Housing is currently provided at the Sinks Canyon Center for Outdoor Education students. Imagine learning AND living in the beautiful Sinks Canyon area. Nestled along the middle fork of the Popo Agie River, students live in cozy two-person cabins or a brand new 24 bed bunkhouse, while attending class on the grounds or in Lander. Cabins are well insulated, heated and have two beds each. The bunkhouse has 12, 2-person rooms and a comfortable common area with a cozy fireplace. There are laundry and shower house facilities on-site. Secure storage is available and students are welcome to bring their own bikes, skis and any other recreational equipment they wish.  A meal plan is also available.

Apply for housing here.

Equipment Rental

An equipment rental center is located at the Sinks Canyon Center and is available to students throughout the semester. We have mountain bikes, nordic and backcountry ski packages, camping equipment and more.
