Academic Planning for Success

Intake Interview

In the intake interview the student's placement scores, schedule and program are reviewed. This is to insure that the student is in the right program and class to meet their goals. Each semester as the student checks in their progress is confirmed or the student is advised to check with their program adviser. The student is expected to check with the Trio transfer specialist to insure that the school they want to move on to will accept all of their credits. Coordination with the receiving school is important in the academic planning of the student.

Educational Action Plan

An educational action plan is created for each student each semester. It consists of one or more goal setting statements based on the need or desires of the student. The goals may relate to a class, a study skill or grade that is being sought. The student may be referred to the transfer/career counselor, the personal counselor, students own academic advisor, educational diagnostician or the tutors. The plan is reviewed at the end of the semester or the beginning of the new semester to determine what was accomplished and to give direction for the next educational action plan.
