College Goal Sunday is a statewide program sponsored by USA Funds and the Lumina Foundation to help students and families complete the FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for to help pay for college.
There are 12 sites across Wyoming that participate in this event. Financial Aid Directors from participation college and knowledgeable staff are on hand to give accurate and timely information to students and their families. Several colleges offer additional information regarding application for admission, applicaton for private scholarships, academic advising and housing.
Who may attend CGS? High school seniors and their parents as well as first time college students ages 18-23 is the target audience for this program. Families receive information and assistance necessary to complete the FAFSA form.
How long does the event last? Assistance is available from 2:00-4:00 pm. You can attend anytime between that time and only need to stay long enough to get your questions answered. Light refreshments are available and educational prizes will be drawn at 3:45 pm. You do not have to be present to win the educational drawings, so just stop in long enough to get the inforamtion you need.
What do I need to do before coming to the event? 1)Bring your parents completed 2007 IRS tax form or 2006 forms if income is similar to the 2007 year if you current forms are not comleted. 2)Go to the FAFSA website and apply for a personal PIN number so you can send your application off as soon as it is complete. Note, student and parents need a PIN number.
