An interlibrary loan is the process by which the CWC Library requests an item or a photocopy of an item it does not own from another library.
Any CWC student or staff member with a current CWC ID/Library card may request an interlibrary loan through the CWC Library.
You may request most books, magazine articles, videos and government publications through interlibrary loan. However, most libraries will not loan Reference materials, whole issues of magazines, new popular fiction, items that are considered rare or are in popular demand at the lending library.
When in doubt place a request for the item, and the CWC Library will inform you of any problems in availability.
Most of the time there is no charge. If the library that loans or provides copies of material assesses a charge, that charge is passed on to you. When placing an interlibrary loan request, you may specify an amount you would be willing to pay or assure that you will pay any charges incurred.
You can check on and pick up your interlibrary loan at the circulation desk. Failure to pick up an item you requested through interlibrary loan will incur a $1 per item charge. If you cannot come to campus, contact the Library staff.
Loan periods are set by the lending library. In general, the period is 3-4 weeks for books and 1 week for audio visual materials. Sometimes the lending library places restrictions on the use of items and the CWC Library will always abide by these restrictions. Articles are usually received as photocopies, which are yours to keep.
Renewals are done on a case-by-case basis. Check with the Interlibrary Loan Librarian for more information.
