Some tips about applying for federal financial aid:

  • Do it as early as possible. The best aid packages go to the earliest applicants, as some funding is limited and awarded to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis. The process can take several weeks. Finacial Aid Process page has more information about the steps you need to take.
  • Be sure to correctly report your housing status (on/off-campus or living with relatives).
  • Select all the types of aid you are interested in. You may always turn down a loan or work-study later.
  • Check with the Records and Research office to insure all your transcripts have been received.
  • Remember to re-apply annually. You can submit the next academic year's FAFSA on or after January 1 of each year.
