Some tips about applying for federal financial aid:
Do it as early as possible. The best aid packages go to the earliest applicants, as some funding is limited and awarded to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis. The process can take several weeks. Finacial Aid Process page has more information about the steps you need to take.
Be sure to correctly report your housing status (on/off-campus or living with relatives).
Select all the types of aid you are interested in. You may always turn down a loan or work-study later.
Check with the Records and Research office to insure all your transcripts have been received.
Remember to re-apply annually. You can submit the next academic year's FAFSA on or after January 1 of each year.
Other important tips:
Please keep your address current. You may update your address in the in the Registration Office or online through Webadvisor.
Return to the Financial Aid Office all required forms, documentation, verification, corrections and/or new information in a timely fashion.
Read, understand, and accept responsibility for all forms and agreements you sign and keep copies of every item for your records.
Understand the terms and conditions governing all assistance received.
Maintain satisfactory progress and good academic standing as defined by the college.
Know and comply with the institution's Return of Title IV Funds Policy.

Follow your program of study-only those courses required to earn your degree are applicable toward federal aid funds.
