Rustler Women's Basketball
A once proud tradition returns to CWC after a lengthy absence. CWC will field a women's basketball team for the first time in almost two decades. Serol Stauffenberg, who revived the volleyball program just two years ago, is taking on the task of coaching the new women's basketball team. "We will approach it much like we did in volleyball. We will spend a tremendous amount of time on the road recruiting this first year in hopes of being successful right away. This success will help in future recruiting years."
The Lady Rustlers were a force in the 1980s. They went to the national tournament in 1982, 1984, 1985, and 1986. Fran Buckless was the head coach during the 1982 campaign and then Todd Cotton guided the Rustlers to the other Region 9 titles.
