Central Wyoming College officials announced the selection of Jamie Stevens as their first head men's basketball coach in more than 16 years.
Stevens started his duties as men's basketball coach and fitness center supervisor on July 1.
While CWC won't field a basketball team until the 2008-09 season, Stevens will be busy recruiting student athletes, growing an athletic endowment fund and creating more excitement about the return of round ball athletics to CWC.
CWC eliminated round ball athletics in 1991 due to budgetary constraints. In the fall of 2006, under Coach Serol Stauffenberg, CWC re-initiated a women's volleyball program. This fall, trustees of the college directed the CWC administration to investigate the return of both men's and women's basketball after Stauffenberg's successful inaugural season.
