Many student activities are scheduled year round including athletic, cultural and just plain fun stuff, like spaghetti wrestling. A full slate of concerts, exhibits and plays by CWC visual and performing artists and a whole host of national touring groups and art shows are available each year. The students annually schedule a cultural trip to take part in the metropolitan cultural scene.
If your physical activity requires a special location, we’ll take you there. CWC students schedule a ski/snowboard trips to regional ski areas. Student excursions are also made to nearby mountain areas for
hikes, mountain biking, white water float trips or to the hot springs in Thermopolis. Nearby streams and rivers are teeming with trout. Sinks Canyon is the host of the International Climbers’ Fresival, and Boysen Lake is famous for its “glass” conditions savored by water skiers. Togwotee Pass, South Pass and the Sinks are also excellent places for the Nordic skier as well as for snow mobilers.
Sources of Information about Student Activities
The calendar in the student hand book should serve as a good source of information about student activities. This website is also a great source of information on activities for students.
Another helpful place to get assistance is the Information Hub, located under the atrium in the Administration Wing. Also, there is the student-operated radio station — KCWC-FM (88.1 on your dial) — and the College’s public television station, Channel 4. You will also want to watch for information posted on campus bulletin boards. The Student Senate provides campus information on an electronic marquee located on the highway in front of campus.
A Student Activities Board, with oversight by the Student Senate, plans and implements most of the school events. This committee is open to all interested students. Each club on campus must provide a representative to the Activities Committee. If you would like to serve in this group, leave your name in the Student Senate office (located in the student center across from the Bookstore) or contact an Activities and Intramurals Assistant. The Activities and Intramurals Assistants’ offices are located in the Student Center. You will also need to sign up for any trips or special activities through these offices.
Although we encourage all students to get involved, participating in student activities is a privilege and not a right. Restrictions may apply to students who are placed on disciplinary or academic probation.
