The Student Center at Central Wyoming College is the hub of student activities at CWC. You can relax in the student lounge and watch movies or play games. Drink a latte at Rusty’s, dine in the Food Court Bar & Grill, play pool or work out in the well-equipped Fitness Center. If you’re competitive, intramural activities are scheduled daily in the gym or at the campus volleyball pit, soccer fields, basketball court and tennis courts.

CWC's location perfect for the active student

skiingWith the college located in Riverton, Wyo., at the base of the Wind River Mountains, CWC is the center of outdoor recreation heaven. Streams and rivers in the area are teeming with trout. The nearby Sinks Canyon is the host site of the International Climbers’ Festival, and Boysen Lake is famous for the “glass” conditions savored by water skiers. Togwotee Pass, South Pass and the Sinks are excellent places for Nordic skiing. Of course, Wyoming is wild and wildlife is abundant.

alpine_flowersCWC is also situated in a very historic location, at the crossroads of the Oregon, Mormon, Bozeman and California trails. This rich history is significant to the building of the west, as is what can be found at the neighboring Wind River Indian Reservation.

pool_ballsStudents have a say in types of activities they want offered by providing input or serving on the Student Activities Board.

Clubs

Empower yourself by getting involved in one of the many clubs on campus. Display your leadership style by running for Student Senate or serving on the senate’s Student Activities Board that plans & implements student events. There are a variety of clubs and organizations on our campus which are designed to meet student needs. They include Delta Psi Omega (theater), the Great Art Club, Criminal Justice Club, The Equestrian Club , United Tribes of CWC, Fellowship of College Christians, Student Nurses’ Association, the Multicultural Club, Vida Nueva, Veterans' Club, Phi Theta Kappa and others.

Activities and Class Attendance

If you’re involved in a college activity that will cause you to miss classes, you’ll want to notify your instructor of your planned absence and make arrangements for making up class work PRIOR to your departure. Plan to get class notes from a classmate.

Sources of Information About Student Activities

The most convenient source of information about student activities is the CWC home page, this page and the "My CWC" page. Another good source of information is the student-operated radio station — KCWC-FM (88.1 on your dial) — and the college’s public television station, Wyoming PBS.

Major events of interest are advertised on bulletin boards around campus labeled Student Activities/Information so be sure to read them. Events are also announced on the marquee located on the highway in front of campus.

A Student Activities Board is appointed each year from members of the student body by the Student Senate to plan and implement activities for all students. If you would like to serve on this committee, contact the Student Activities and Intramural staff in the Student Center or leave your name in the Student Senate Office located in the Student Center.
