If this is the start of a new semester, your classes will not be available until the first day of class. If class has started and you still can’t see your class, contact the Helpdesk. If you have added a class, it may be that we just haven’t had time to add your class to your WebCT account.
This is a case where the instructor has not yet inputted the class information into WebCT. Contact the Helpdesk or your instructor.
There are actually 2 types of classes in WebCT. One type of class is where the instructor’s class actually resides ON WebCT. The 2nd type is where the instructor’s class is ACCESSED THROUGH WebCT but is actually listed on the Internet. It is in this 2nd type of WebCT class that asks you for a password or access code. It will be different from your CWC user name and password. Most of the time, these passwords or access codes can be found in the front or back of your textbook, perhaps under the CD if there is one with the textbook. If you still have trouble finding these codes or accessing the class, you need to contact your instructor.
One possible cause is an Internet Explorer 6 update installed by Windows Update. Some users found this problem could be resolved by changing an Internet Explorer setting as follows:
Sorry, but the IT staff cannot help with problems on a student’s personal computer. Ask around campus and there are lots of students that are “computer geeks” that are usually glad to help out. If that doesn’t work out, you will need to contact a computer service company.
Even though residents of the College’s on-campus housing are provided network connectivity in their rooms or apartments at no additional cost to their housing charges, access to this service is disabled until the resident signs the CWC Network Activation and Use Agreement form and returns it back to the Housing Director’s Office. This form, along with other important information, can be found in your CWC student handbook. If you have had internet service and it is not working now, contact the IT Helpdesk.
Resave the document as a .rtf (rich text format) file. Then open the document in MS Word (may need to change file type to “all files.”).
