LPN Advanced Placement

If you have an active Wyoming LPN license, you may be eligible to enter the second year of the ADN program, provided you meet the following requirements. Interested individuals should contact the nursing program director for more information.

LPN to RN Completion Guidelines

1. The following courses must be completed prior to entering at the sophomore level:

  • Human Anatomy (4 credits)
  • Human Physiology (4 credits)
  • General Microbiology (4 credits)
  • General Psychology (4 credits)
  • Math 1000 or higher level (3 credits)
  • Pharmacology (4 credits within the past five years)
  • University Studies/Physical Activity/Wellness* (1 credit)

2. You must achieve a passing score on the PN GAP (General Achievement Profile) mobility test in the following three areas: Mental Health, Adult Medical, and Adult Surgical. The passing scores must be achieved within two years of June 1st of the year you plan to enter at the sophomore level. Applicants will be allowed to take the GAP up to two times to achieve a passing score in all the areas listed above (#1). Applicants must wait a minimum of two months between retests. Contact the nursing office to make arrangements to take the GAP.

3. If the above criteria (#1-2) are met, you will be eligible to enroll in the LPN Transition course in the summer prior to entering the second year of the nursing program.

4. Advanced placement in the nursing program is dependent upon space available and adequate clinical resources.

5. Students wishing an evaluation of collegiate work for transfer of credit must make arrangements for official transcripts from institutions previously attended to be sent directly to the Records Office at CWC.

6. You will be required to complete the remaining general education requirements for the associate of applied science degree in nursing prior to graduation:

  • English Composition I
  • English Composition II (or Business Communications)
  • American & Wyoming Government

7. All required courses for the degree must be completed with a grade of C or higher.

*Students who transfer in a minimum of 12 college credits with a 2.0 GPA or higher are exempt
