Clinical Training Requirements

Health record requirements vary among clinical agencies and students are expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the respective agency. All the following requirements must be met prior to participating in clinical training and must remain in effect throughout the program of study. Information regarding how the requirements are obtained is provided upon admission to the program.

  1. Criminal background check.
  2. Substance abuse test.
  3. HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliance training, and signed nondisclosure acknowledgment regarding confidentiality and privacy.
  4. Professional liability (malpractice) insurance.
  5. BLS Healthcare Provider certification by American Heart Association.
  6. Physical examination.
  7. Laboratory work to include: tuberculin (TB) skin test and/or chest x-ray with annual screening, hepatitis B vaccination series, rubella vaccine or titer, and tetanus immunization.

A positive criminal background check or a positive drug screen may prohibit completion of course objectives and result in dismissal from the program.
