The Central Wyoming College Music Department in-
vites you to join in a dynamic quality program, consisting of a two-year curriculum that leads to an Associate of Arts degree.

The department offers you a major in music to prepare you to enter specialized programs at four-year institutions. It also serves non-music majors who are interested in continuing their musical pursuits.

Performance

The program offers many performance opportunities for you to participate in, including Collegiate Chorale, College Band, chamber music ensembles, Big Band, jazz combos, JAZZMAGIC, and the Central Wyoming Acappella Chamber Singers. The department also offers individual instruction in voice, piano, and most instruments plus opportunities to be in musical theatre.

Facilities

Adjacent to the 942-seat theater, the music area in the Robert A. Peck Arts Center is equipped with soundproof classrooms, rehearsal, and practice areas. State-of-the-art equipment is available for student use: grand pianos, computer-assisted instruction in classes, a fully-integrated recording studio, a MIDI piano lab, and a large music listening library.

With all this to offer, the music department offers you a myriad of choices to work in and explore.

  • Try your hand at audio engineering in the college's recording studio and theatre.
  • Learn music composition using state-of-the-art digital music work stations.
  • Integrate your music and theater experiences.

Touring

musicMusic students can participate in a variety of tour experiences that are first rate. Student performance groups tour throughout Wyoming each year, an opportunity that is sometimes not available at other colleges. CWC is the only college in Wyoming to tour a theater production annually, giving students a unique experience that is not typical in a two-year program.

The music program is fully transferable to four-year schools. Start out your music history and theory sequence in small, personal classes. Work on your instrument or voice with experienced, highly-qualified instructors. Be in the "front line" in performance ensembles and musical theatre.
